Yes. Close-fitting burkinis made from man-made fibres or synthetic materials are permitted, with an overskirt extending no lower than the hips. They may cover the body and hair.

Long, loose-fitting garments may pose a safety risk, for example by being more likely to become caught on something or by restricting freedom of movement.

Yes. Swimming shorts are permitted provided they do not extend below the knee and are specifically designed as swimwear and made from synthetic material.

Very long swimming shorts may restrict freedom of movement and do not meet the requirements for suitable swimwear.

An exception applies to UV-protective swim shirts, which may be worn by children aged 14 and under for sun protection.

Everyday clothing is not designed for use in swimming pools. It may introduce dirt, dust or other contaminants into the water and is often made from unsuitable materials.

No. For hygiene reasons, underwear may not be worn under swimwear, including swimming trunks or swimsuits.

Cotton and other natural fibres absorb large amounts of water, shed fibres into the pool water and can interfere with the water treatment process. For this reason, only swimwear made from suitable synthetic materials is permitted.
